Though it feels like I’ve been teasing this new album forever, next month it’s finally happening. The first single from our latest album comes out on May 7, and the full album will be released July 30th
The album is called All The Lies That I Have Told, and I’m looking forward to telling you all about it soon. In the meantime, though, I’m excited to share a link to pre-save the first single, “Willie Nelson.” Featuring Kelly Jane (who you may know from The Little Fuller Band, or from her excellent solo album), it’s a song about a recently divorced couple in a small town where everyone knows their story. When they were young and in love, they made an ill-fated choice for “their song”—”Blue Eyes Cryin’ In the Rain”—which they reflect on as they prepare to answer the same damn questions everybody’s asking. Should they answer honestly? Or do they rely on the line they’ve been privately workshopping, knowing the effect it will have when it inevitably gets back to the other?
