Wow…2019 is over! So much to say. You probably already saw it all, because I paid Facebook to promote all the important news….but I’m gonna write about it anyway. Releasing The Frontman was a big ol weight off the chest. And, who’d have thought, Lisa Whealy of indie music review site Independent Clauses named it her favorite album of 2019. It was such a wonderful surprise to look at one of my favorite music sites’ year-end lists and see something I’d worked so hard on atop it.
I have a bunch of cool updates to share…did two episodes of a podcast, wrote about my favorite album of 2019 for Indientry, and the Patreon is going strong. But regarding the headline…yeah. I’ve been done with facebook dot com for a while now, but I was always afraid to abandon it fully because my music promotion is so dependent on it. There are many reasons and explanations and if you are curious I’d be happy to tell you about it over a coffee sometime, but the best way I can sum it up? I look at the time I spent writing music, poetry, and prose in 2019 against the time I spent writing, promoting, and following up on Facebook posts. It’s not even close, and it kills me. Yes, I spend a lot of time on other social media platforms, but I enjoy those. I hate being on fb…so I’m leaving it.
If you want to stay in touch, there are still SO MANY ways to do so. For example, you could email me! I can be found at @iamsupergrover on Twitter and Instagram. We have posted some pretty cool stuff to the Patreon so far, and are looking forward to doing even more this year. You can access for just a dollar a month, if you’re so inclined. And, of course, we can chat in person. I’d love that.
Josh is going to babysit the page for me, make sure no one posts inappropriate stuff there, but in the meantime, I’m poking one tiny toe out of the digital world. I can’t wait.
Thank you for supporting The Frontman this year. Thank you for supporting me and the people I make music with this year. I’ll see ya in 2020. —Grover
