It’s that time of year again…Happy Holidays! Here’s the Christmas song I released last year. It’s currently in rotation at KKBN 93.5FM, and available on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and everywhere else online. There’s even a Pandora station! For the Country Record (which, sadly, is no more) featured it…here’s what they wrote:
We last talked about Grover Anderson when we introduced you to his album ‘The Optimist’, and I loved his quirky, story-focused take on Americana. Now Grover has written and released an original Christmas song, and I can only tell you how much I love its fresh and emotional angle, making the 2000-year-old Christmas story relatable to people in the 21st century.
Grover says of the song and this time of year, “I find myself running the gamut of Christmas emotions. I cherish the coming together of family, I tire of the commercialization, I admire the giving spirit that seems to shine brightest this time of year, and I wince as some try to politicize the season.” He continues, “Others have adequately covered snow-dashing, Santa Claus, and singing praises to the “newborn king” from the mountaintop. In writing this song, I tried to break the story of Jesus’ birth and life down to its most basic elements. What was going through Joseph’s mind that night? How do you even begin to think about raising the son of God? How would I react in that situation?” It resulted in a truly heartfelt and wonderful piece of music that manages to eschew all the cliches and get down to the humanity of the occasion.
